About me

Hi, it's me, Huaxing YUAN, born in a city in the north west of China.

Three passions in my life are computer, travel and photography.

The passion on computer technologie makes me today who i am, Passed four years in academy of computer science in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), the passion of travel made me passed two years in France in Université de Picardie Jules Vernes (UPJV). I'm now working on the domain of computer engineering.

The CityAdvisor Project:
I lived in Paris for 2 years, feeling well on their public transport systems. The metro in Paris is great, 14 lines that nearly reaches everywhere in this city. There are not only metros, but I know only the metros. So I need something to tell me the best way to a place I want to go. Yes, the operator's site has an searching system but when I do not have an unlimited 3G plan I have to do it locally.

Then the CityAdvisor arrived, with an open map format.

Open map format:
The map format of CityAdvisor is open, as an XML document,it is easy to create, edit and share maps. In 0.5 and 0.6 versions, the search is base on the route, without regarding the real timetable. And on 0.5 and 0.6 versions, other problem appeared.
The speed, in these versions my own Ile-De-France map need 6 seconds to calculate the way from my home to Versailles. Ok, if you say that is acceptable, a very serious and hard working man bbonzz on XDA made this unacceptable - he made a full Milan map with all subways, buses and trams. With this map, you have everything; but when you searching, you got nothing. A search waste more than 30 seconds just because of my crap algorithm. That give me some efforts to rewrite everythin on the second version - CityAdvisor 1.0

CityAdvisor 1.0 versions
This is a version I'm satisfied on its performance: The engine is totally rewrote by native code, using the most efficient algorithm. meanwhile many more features were added:
- Frequency and Time Table are both supported.
- Can set favorite stations
- Can calculate also the distances
- Search options: Balanced and Less Connecting
- Stations are marked with a Handicap Friendly indicator

Now the CityAdvisor.net is comming to you, let's share and enrich the maps of this platform.
